Although Democracy was not a new concept to the world because thousands of years before, it was implemented in Greece (Around the fifth century BCE). But the implementation was not that successful, and also it didn’t happen on such a large scale.
The American Revolution was the first time in the world, where common people came further to revolt against their rulers on a very large scale and overthrow them. After overthrowing rulers, common people established their self-administration.
The success of the American Revolution became a major inspiration to the world to overthrow the autocracies of kings and establish Democracy.
For example, just after a few years of the American Revolution’s success, people in France revolt against King Louis XVI and successfully overthrow him (Glorious French Revolution).
