The Pursuit of Happiness Declaration of Independence Meaning

Well, the Pursuit of Happiness is an element of the United States Declaration of Independence.

At that time, the meaning of this element was to point to the rights of the American colonists to protect their happiness from the subjugation of tyrants.

During the era of British rule in the 13 American colonies, such values as equality, freedom, justice started deteriorating for the colonists.

Only for the benefit of Great Britain, the British Parliament and King George III continued to abolish the rights of the American people to obtain their happiness.

Therefore, in the end, colonists had to fight the Revolutionary War of independence to get rid out of the autocracy of England.  

When in 1776 on July 4th, they declared independence from Great Britain through the Declaration of Independence, they drafted these famous words in it– “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness”.

These famous words mean that every human being on the planet earth has been born with some certain Unalienable rights.

No matter, what the condition is, how difficult is; but these rights can’t be taken away from them under any circumstances.

Whenever there any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it becomes the right of the people to throw that government out of power and form a new one with much better probabilities.

1. Every single colonist has the right to equality, freedom, and justice. These are their birthright; no matter who controls their governance or whatever the condition is, but these birthrights are undestructive at all conditions.

2. Colonists will choose their own leaders and form their own government; but not the English authority.

3. People are the real source of a nation’s power; not the government or king. If the government fails to protect the happiness of the people, it becomes the right of the people to throw them out of power.

4. If a war has to be fought to achieve freedom from subjugation, then that war is reasonable. Even, God also supports the war.
